Worcestershire Sauce
The location is famed as the birthplace of Worcestershire Sauce, crafted over 180 years ago by chemists John Wheeley Lea and William Henry Perrins when they came together.
This year commemorates the 200th anniversary since John Wheeley Lea and William Henry Perrins established their partnership and settled on Broad Street in 1823.
In the rear of their chemist shop at 68 Broad Street, in 1837, the duo commenced the production of the renowned Lea and Perrin’s Worcestershire Sauce.
Subsequently, the company transitioned from Broad Street to its new production facility on Midland Road in 1896, where the sauce continues to be produced to this day.
